In the midst of picnic’s and bar-b-ques with families and friends, let’s reflect on the meaning of why we celebrate the Memorial Day holiday.
“The preservation of the sacred fire of liberty and the destiny of the republican model of government are justly considered as deeply, perhaps as finally, staked on the experiment entrusted to the hands of the American people.” — George Washington, in his First Inaugural Address, April 30, 1789
Thanks to all our men and woman that have served our Country. We honor you today.
Missy, When you have a loved one serving it really changes what you think about Memorial Day; doesn’t it! I have been so instrospective this Memorial Day. As you know our son has just got out of the Army. Knowing he made it through two tours of Iraq safe and sound lifts a huge burden off our shoulders. I ended up writing 3 memorial day post. Like I said very introspective!!
Marchel, you are so right. I use to hate the History Channel and now I can’t get enough of it.
So thankful for your son coming home. Matt is still out at sea, but his deployment is half over.
